PAKT (Parents And Kids Together) is part of Carrickfergus YMCA,
which is an association of people from different Christian
traditions motivated by their faith in Jesus Christ to express
the love of God through service, without distinction or
condition, to young people and their families/carers.
Key elements and principles:
PAKT is a grassroots, family initiative. The family, in all its
various shapes, is absolutely central to the development of the
PAKT project. An important factor which distinguishes PAKT from
any other programmes is its concentration on relationships
between parents and children within the family unit.
PAKT involves parents and children in a wide range of
activities, some of which are organised for the kids, some for
the parents and some for the family unit.
PAKT believes that early life intervention measures are both
critical and necessary. PAKT is focused upon the P2-P7 age
group. Learning that takes place at this stage in a child's
development is most important in shaping the way that the child
progresses into adolescence and adulthood.
PAKT is complementary to existing school and community
provision and new projects will not be set up in competition
with other groups/clubs who are also developing actions and
services for parents and children.
PAKT is reliant on volunteers and is appreciative of all offers
of appropriate help. |
