| Facing History |
Thu 29 April 2010 |
Carrickfergus YMCA in partnership with Wave Trauma Centre is running a programme for 16 young people called Facing history, Facing ourselves . The programme will run over 12 sessions during which the young people will complete an Open College Network level 2 accredited course, focused on peace building. The young people will have the opportunity to look at the back ground to events like the Holocaust, Rwanda and the Northern Ireland troubles, learning skills enabling them to at first challenge then break cycles of violence and hate in society .
The Young people involved feel very strongly that it is up them to influence change in our society for a better future for us all. They have a deep desire to break down the barriers of the past and build a new future starting today. The YMCA would like to thank the Wave Trauma centre and the Department of Foreign affairs Dublin for making this project possible.
